WorkBC staff can negotiate an agreement with an employer that will subsidize part of the new employee’s wages while they learn new skills. The subsidy amount varies and depends on a number of things, including: the hourly wage rate and the number of hours worked weekly. The subsidy is available to assist individuals in securing long-term employment by supporting direct work experience while compensating the employer for their investment in upskilling a new employee.
